Educational Aide – Benedictine High School

Benedictine High School is seeking a qualified Educational Aide for the 2025-26 school year. We are looking for a candidate who will support Benedictine’s mission of shaping a diverse group of young men into leaders. As an institution, we believe in the Benedictine tradition of ora et labora (prayer and work), in letting students lead, and in guiding our students toward becoming Men of Benedictine.

Educational Aide Position

The Educational Aide will play a key role in supporting students’ academic success by co-teaching Algebra and Science classes while also leading Directed Study Halls to assist students in developing executive functioning skills and staying on top of their coursework.

This position is ideal for someone with a background in math or science who is passionate about mentoring students and helping them build the skills necessary for academic achievement. The Educational Aide will work closely with teachers, administration, and the Counseling Department to ensure that students receive the guidance and support they need to thrive at Benedictine High School.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-Teach Algebra and Science Classes
    • Assist lead teachers with instruction, small-group learning, and individualized student support.
    • Provide additional explanations and reinforcement for students struggling with math and science concepts.
    • Help modify and adapt lessons as needed to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Lead Directed Study Halls
    • Provide structured support for students struggling with executive functioning skills, including organization, time management, and task completion.
    • Help students stay on top of missing assignments, communicate with teachers, and develop academic accountability.
    • Foster a productive and supportive learning environment where students can focus and receive guidance.
  • Student Mentorship and Support
    • Develop positive relationships with students to encourage personal and academic growth.
    • Monitor student progress and collaborate with teachers and counselors to address academic challenges.
    • Encourage students to take responsibility for their learning and advocate for themselves.
  • Collaboration and Professional Development
    • Work alongside teachers and school staff to create an engaging and effective learning environment.
    • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and ongoing training.
    • Assist in school-wide initiatives to support student success.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Background in math or science (Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required).
  • Experience working with high school students, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to support students with executive functioning challenges.
  • A deep commitment to the mission and values of Benedictine High School.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and students.
  • Passion for helping young men grow academically, socially, and personally.
  • Open to feedback and personal growth.
  • Proficient in using technology to assist student learning and organization.
