CLEVELAND, Ohio — Benedictine High School proudly announces a $1.5 million gift from Greg Rufus ’74 and his wife, Kathy, in support of the school’s general operations and ongoing capital improvements as part of the BHS100 Campaign.
In recognition of the Rufus family’s extraordinary generosity and enduring commitment to Benedictine’s mission, the school’s former cafeteria space will be renamed The Greg and Kathy Rufus ’74 Student Commons. The renovated commons area will serve as a central gathering place for students, fostering community, collaboration, and school spirit for generations to come.
Greg Rufus, a 1974 graduate of Benedictine High School, has remained deeply connected to the school and its values throughout his life. This landmark gift reflects the Rufus family’s belief in the importance of Catholic, Benedictine education and their desire to ensure future students continue to benefit from the brotherhood and
academic experience that define Benedictine High School.
“Kathy and I are blessed and fortunate to make this gift allowing future Men of Benedictine to continue the legacy and experience the rich traditions of the Home of Champions,” said Greg Rufus ’74.
“It is only fitting that one of the most recognized names in Benedictine history be prominently displayed in the central gathering place of our school, the new Student Commons. The Rufus family embodies the Benedictine values of hospitality and community, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity and steadfast commitment to our mission,” said Dave Schroeder ’90, President of Benedictine High School.

For the Rufus’s to make this investment is not only very thoughtful and generous, but it provides significant momentum as we embark on our next century, ” said Chris Lorber ’04, Chief Operating Officer of Benedictine High School.
