Jordan Hall Society Visits Rid-All Green Partnership
The Jordan Hall Society made its first field trip to Rid-All Green partnership, an Urban Farm Initiative happening right here in the Buckeye Kinsman Neighborhood. Rid-All has grown over the years into a very successful operation, especially with composting and selling high quality soil for growing fruit and vegetables. They believe in educating the community as well and providing high quality vegetables to the area. You can see some of their produce in the new Fairfax Market on the opportunity corridor.
Founding partner Timothy Lewis took the Bengals all over the campus and showcased the multiple hoop houses for growing, the dome, and their fish farm initiative. They also strongly support veterans and have one hoop house dedicated to the veterans of all of our military branches.
The story of Rid-All is a classic combination of great entrepreneurship and great mission and it was an awesome first trip for the Jordan Hall Society. They were served an incredible lunch in the Community Kitchen with ingredients and fish cultivated at Rid-All. The Society ended their day with an interesting business case study of a company that began a caviar operation in Madagascar and discussed their own plans and ideas for career development and entrepreneurship.
Donald Whitt ’08 and Brian Hall planned and led this great outing and it was great to have Aaron Haynesworth ’08 and Lewis Alvis ’06 on the trip as well. The Jordan Hall Society will meet again tomorrow with a panel of speakers in a presentation called “Professionalism & Starting Your Own Business”.
