Understanding Tuition & Financial Aid Options

For the 2025–2026 school year, tuition at Benedictine High School is $16,300, which includes academic fees, a personal laptop, and uniform shirts. While this may seem like a significant investment, multiple forms of assistance are available to make it manageable for families. Ohio offers three major scholarship (voucher) programs that can reduce or fully cover tuition for many families. The Cleveland Scholarship is available to families who reside in the Cleveland Municipal School District and provides up to $8,408 per year. Families are encouraged to apply or renew through the Ohio Department of Education, with proof of residency required. The EdChoice Scholarship is for families living in eligible public school districts and also offers up to $8,408 annually. Students who received this voucher during elementary school are eligible to renew it at the high school level. The EdChoice Expansion Program broadens access even further. This income-based scholarship is available to all Ohio families regardless of their public school district, and awards range from $840 to $8,408 depending on Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). Every applicant is guaranteed to receive some level of financial support. These scholarships are determined by the state and applied directly to tuition at eligible private schools.

Additional Tuition Assistance

In addition to Ohio’s state-funded scholarships, families can access several forms of financial assistance directly through Benedictine High School. These options are designed to make Catholic education more affordable, regardless of a family’s financial background. Families seeking tuition support are encouraged to complete the FACTS Financial Aid Application, which takes into account household income, tax documentation, and other supporting financial materials. This process ensures that tuition assistance is awarded fairly and based on each family’s unique circumstances. For students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP), the Jon Peterson Special Needs (JPSN) Scholarship offers significant financial assistance. The amount awarded depends on the student’s primary disability, as outlined in their Evaluation Team Report. This program supports families seeking a school environment that aligns with their child’s educational needs. Benedictine also partners with the Howley Foundation, which provides need-based scholarships to academically strong incoming freshmen. Each year, ten students are nominated by the admissions team and selected by the foundation to receive this generous award, making a high-quality education more accessible to high-achieving students. For students who excel academically, merit scholarships are available based on scores from the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Students who score in the 70th percentile or above may qualify for tiered awards, encouraging academic excellence from the very beginning of the high school experience. Additionally, the Presidential Scholarship offers a $5,000 award for students who demonstrate leadership and commitment to community service. Even if a student scores below the 75th percentile on the HSPT, they may still be eligible for this award by submitting an essay and completing an interview process. This scholarship reflects Benedictine’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded, service-minded young men.
